What is a Good Neighbor?

Being a good neighbor matters. Mr. Rogers did a wonderful job of teaching most of us to be good neighbors. In fact, despite the polarization of today’s environment, you might be surprised to learn that 86% of people like their neighbors. Mrs. Kravitz, on the other hand, was not such a good neighbor.


Are You a Good Neighbor?
Make time for conversation
Introduce yourself
Learn your neighbor’s name
Learn their pet’s name
Clean up after your pets
Maintain your home and lawn
Be mindful of noise levels coming from your home and yard
Communicate if you’re hosting a party, or about anything that may impact them
Be considerate of parking and advise your guests of the best places to park
Offer to help if you see or know a neighbor struggling
If a neighbor has upset you, kindly speak to them directly to avoid gossip
Utilize the homeowners association for any issues you need help resolving
Follow neighborhood rules and support neighborhood efforts
Participate and do your part to add value to the community as a whole
Be considerate and respectful

    Report crime as soon as possible.
    Pick up litter near your home. Even if you didn’t put it there.
    Pet owners should make sure they pick up after their pets.
